Trash not bagged properly and windy days can turn your street into an environmental nightmare. Here’s how you can help.
- Bag all trash. Loose trash is more likely to blow away, especially as your carts are being emptied into the truck.
- Secure trash and recycling cart lids. A bungee cord or rope can be used to tie down the lid to your carts. Just remember to take them off before bringing your carts to the curb for service.
- If possible, avoid bringing your carts to the curb in extremely windy weather. Always retrieve them as soon as possible to avoid damage to your carts.
- Put your address on your trash and recycling carts. Carts tend to wander in high winds and are much easier to retrieve when your home address is clearly visible. Residents are responsible for replacement costs associated with missing carts.
